BREAST CANCER
Breast Cancer is a cancer of the glandular breast tissue. Worldwide, breast cancer is the fifth most common cause of cancer death (after lung cancer, stomach cancer, liver cancer and colon cancer). In year 2005, breast cancer caused 502,000 death worldwide. Among worldwide, breast cancer is most common cancer and most common cause of cancer death (1). The known risk factors for breast cancer include family history, Li-Fraumeni syndrome, atypical hyperplasia of the breast, late-age at first full-term pregnancy, early menarche, and late menopause . Because some of these risk factors are not easily modifiable (e.g., genetic predisposition), other strategies for reduction of breast cancer risk must be considered.
For management of cancer patients especially Asian countries largely embraced with allopathic medicine. Depending upon the stages of cancer, treatment modalities most commonly used (radiotherapy, surgery and chemotherapy). However, disadvantage of these therapies causes permanent or temporary adverse effects such as loss of hair, loss of appetite, nerve damage, vomiting and nausea etc.

An integrated approach is needed to manage cancer using the growing body of knowleged gained through scientific development. Thousands of herbal and traditional compounds are being screened worldwide to validate their use as anti-cancerous drugs. The science of Ayurveda is supposed to add step on the curative aspects of cancers that have resemblance with clinical entities of Arbuda and granthi mentioned in Sushutra samhita. Herbomineral preparation is branch of Ayurveda that deals with medicinal properties of herbometallic and herbomineral compounds known as Rasa shastra and the drugs which are used are known as Rasa Aushadhi. Herbomineral drugs converts the toxic mega particles of metal into safe and efficacious nanoparticles and even smaller picoparticles which explains the usefulness of herbomineral drugs as effective medicines for cancer as prophylactic, palliative, curative, and supportive medicaments. Therefore, Rasayana therapy and its role in cancer management are being screened in almost all leading Ayurveda research institutes in this country. Various constituents of Herbomineral compounds such as gold, silver, lead, iron, and arsenic are never used in the raw form as their raw form causes poisonous and toxic effects LAS 02 is polyherbal and herbomineral drug which consisted of purified metal and potent Ayurvedic herbs. The drug is most effective, non toxic and has free radical scavenging properties. So the purpose of this study was to to evaluate the efficacy of LAS02 drug in breast cancer patients.
