Redmi Note 7 Pro Review By technical team.

  • The Redmi Note 7 Pro is available in two storage configurations
  • The Neptune Blue and Nebula Red variants flaunt a gradient finish
  • Redmi Note 7 Pro packs a 4,000mAh battery with Quick Charge 4.0 support
Xiaomi has yet again managed to send ripples throughout the Indian smartphone industry with the launch of the Redmi Note 7 and Redmi Note 7 Pro. The more feature-packed offering of the duo, the Redmi Note 7 Pro, packs some remarkable hardware for its asking price, including an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 processor, a 48-megapixel rear camera, a large 4,000mAh battery with fast charging support, all encased in an attention-grabbing body. At its price, there is hardly any other phone in the market that can match the hardware prowess of the Redmi Note 7 Pro, at least on paper. Does that translate to a smartphone experience that can outshine offerings from other brands? Let's find out in our in-depth Redmi Note 7 Pro review.

Redmi Note 7 Pro design

The Redmi series of budget smartphones has traditionally stuck with a generic design language that hardly stands out from the crowd, but the Redmi Note 7 Pro marks a stark departure from that boring design philosophy. Xiaomi has opted for a more premium glass-sandwich design that looks stunning, while also making sure that the smartphone is durable. At first glance, the latest offering from the Redmi sub-brand looks much more expensive than it actually is, and that's certainly a good thing.
The Redmi Note 7 Pro has Gorilla Glass 5 on both sides, while a plastic rim runs around the edges. The glass rear panel is curved and blends seamlessly with the rim, which makes the device feel good in hands. We have the Space Black variant for review, and to describe it in one word, it looks gorgeous. We quite liked the reflective finish and the minimalist silver Redmi logo. The sides have a glossy coating of black paint, which creates an aesthetic uniformity with the shiny rear panel.
On the downside, the device attracts smudges and dust particles quickly, and they stand out against the black colour. Then there is the huge camera bump that is among the thickest we've seen on a smartphone recently. These are the two tradeoffs that users will have to live with unless they use a protective case. The Redmi Note 7 Pro also comes in Neptune Blue and Nebula Red options, both of which have metallic gradient designs.
Having Gorilla Glass 5 gives us some level of assurance that the device should withstand a few accidental drops without shattering. Xiaomi also states that the Redmi Note 7 Pro has reinforced corners to protect the screen from cracking.
In addition, the company says that the internals of the Redmi Note 7 Pro are protected from liquid damage to an extent, thanks to water-tight seals and the use of rubber insulation for the SIM tray, volume rocker, and power button. The company has used what it calls a P2i hydrophobic nano-coating, which is claimed to protect the smartphone against accidental liquid spills.
It is worth mentioning here that the Redmi Note 7 Pro can only handle minor liquid splashes; it is not water or dust resistant and does not have an IPxx rating. It would be best to refrain from dunking this smartphone under/ around water. Any damage caused by water exposure is not covered under the standard warranty.
The fingerprint sensor is located conveniently on the rear, but we found the volume buttons on the right a little too high to reach without adjusting the smartphone in our hands. Nonetheless, the power and volume buttons are “clicky” and provide satisfactory tactile feedback.
The Redmi Note 7 Pro has Gorilla Glass 5 on the front as well as the rear panel
The left side has the hybrid dual-SIM (Nano+Nano) tray which can also take a microSD card of up to up to 256GB capacity in place of a second SIM. The 3.5mm headphone jack sits on the top. accompanied by an IR emitter, while the speaker and USB Type-C port are on the bottom.
Up front is the 6.3-inch full-HD+ (1080x2340 pixels) LTPS In-Cell display, which has a 19.5:9 aspect ratio and a pixel density of 409ppi. There is a small notch at the top, or a “Dot Notch” in Xiaomi's words.
The colour reproduction of the display is good, and so are the viewing angles. Content on the screen was sharp thanks to the high pixel count. However, we noticed that the display is quite reflective and we had to keep the brightness above the 90 percent mark to comfortably use the smartphone under direct sunlight. You can adjust the display's colour temperature and contrast if you like.
There is a reading mode that makes the screen's colour tone warmer so it's easier to read content. Aside from manually enabling or disabling it, users can choose to create a custom schedule to automate it.

OnePlus 7 preview: Fullscreen display, triple cameras, pop-up selfie camera and all we know so far!!

The next generation OnePlus flagship is currently one of the most hyped smartphones in the industry. Leaks suggest the handset will feature a new fullscreen display with a pop-up front camera as well as a triple camera system.

  • OnePlus 7 is one of the most hyped smartphones in the market currently.
  • OnePlus did confirm that it will bring a special 5G-equipped smartphone before the mainstream OnePlus 7.
  • The biggest change the OnePlus 7 will introduce is a completely fullscreen display.
OnePlus 7 is one of the most hyped smartphones in the market currently. The company has so far shown off its 5G prototype device at the MWC 2019 and is expected to show off a commercial version of the same very soon. OnePlus did confirm that it will bring a special 5G-equipped smartphone before the mainstream OnePlus 7 comes out later in the year. While the 5G device hasn't been unveiled yet, the OnePlus 7 has leaked widely. The leaks have given out the design as well as specifications of the handset, leaving almost nothing to the imagination.
The biggest change the OnePlus 7 will introduce is a completely fullscreen display. Similar to its sister companies Oppo and Vivo, OnePlus is also expected to rely on a pop-up selfie camera for achieving the fullscreen display. Another major
improvement expected in the OnePlus 7 is a triple camera system, with speculations of a 48-megapixel camera being the primary unit on the flagship level smartphone. As expected, the new OnePlus flagship will carry a higher price tag than the OnePlus 6T.
If you want to go for a fairly affordable flagship smartphone and are eagerly looking forward to the OnePlus 7, here's a list of all the features the phone is expected to bring with itself.

OnePlus 7: All we know so far

--The biggest change OnePlus will bring with its next-generation flagship smartphone is the inclusion of a fullscreen display with no notch on the top. OnePlus 7 is expected to sport a 6.5-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with curved corners. It is even speculated that OnePlus 7 could get curve edges similar to Samsung's flagship phones.
-Similar to the OnePlus 6T, the OnePlus 7 will come with an optical in-display fingerprint sensor. However, OnePlus could also offer an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor from Qualcomm recently seen on the Samsung Galaxy S10.
--To achieve the fullscreen display, the OnePlus 7 will rely on a motorised pop-up selfie camera. Oppo and Vivo have introduced the pop-up selfie camera on their mainstream models and it was only a matter of time before OnePlus would follow suit.

--Another feature OnePlus 7 will sport is a new triple camera setup. Similar to Vivo's current flagship offering, OnePlus 7 is speculated to sport a 48-megapixel primary camera along with a 20-megapixel secondary camera meant for low light photography. The third camera will be a 5-megapixel depth sensor meant for bokeh effects.
--OnePlus 7 will also get the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset, which is the same one used on the Xiaomi Mi 9 and Samsung Galaxy S10. However, OnePlus could offer it with the Snapdragon X50 5G modem for 5G-equipped markets whereas India could get the 4G LTE variant. The base variant is expected to come with 6GB RAM and at least 128GB storage. OnePlus could also offer a variant with 10GB RAM and 256GB storage.
--The OnePlus 7 could also sport a faster 30W Warp Charging. The OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition already has the 30W Warp charging and OnePlus could offer it as standard on the OnePlus 7. No news of wireless charging has made it to the rumour belt so far.
--In keeping with the trends, OnePlus could also offer a bigger 4000mAh battery that could help OnePlus extend the battery life over the OnePlus 6T.
--OnePlus recently offered its community members to design the next feature of Oxygen OS. OnePlus has elected Its. Leandrooas the winner who suggests a cleaner UI overhaul for Oxygen OS. Therefore, Oxygen OS is expected to adorn Samsung's OneUI-inspired interface with more customisation options.

WhatsApp to Train Indian Users on Dangers of Fake News
After being asked by the central government to take steps to stop the spread of disinformation on its platform, WhatsApp on Wednesday roped in New Delhi-based non-profit Digital Empowerment Foundation (DEF) to create awareness among its users about the need to verify information.
"Our goal is to help keep people safe by creating greater awareness about fake news and empowering users to help limit its spread," Ben Supple, Public Policy Manager at WhatsApp, said in a statement.
In a meeting with WhatsApp CEO Chris Daniels on August 21, Union IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad instructed the Facebook-owned platform to comply with the law of the land and take "suitable" steps to prevent its misuse.

The meeting took place after several lynching incidents were linked to the spread of misinformation on the instant messaging platform which has over 200 million monthly active users in India.
As part of the new partnership with WhatsApp, DEF has committed to holding 40 training sessions for community leaders in 10 states across the country where there have been worrisome cases of violence and where there will be state polls before the end of the yearDEF said it would help educate government officials, administration representatives, civil society organisations and students to spread the word about this challenge.
The training is expected to enable WhatsApp users to differentiate between opinions and facts, and to inculcate a habit of verifying information through simple checks before forwarding it to their friends and family.
In addition, DEF said it would incorporate this new training as part of their network of over 30,000 grassroots community members in seven states.

Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus Could Have a Punch Hole Display

Samsung is the only reputed smartphone manufacturer that hasn’t yet opted for a notched display in its flagship smartphones. Well, it looks like the brand will skip the notch altogether in its flagship series in favor of a punch-hole display. Recently leaked images of the Galaxy S10 Plus show that the device has a punch-hole display. In my opinion, the punch-hole looks a lot better than a notch.  Samsung has already launched its first smartphone with the punch-hole display, the Galaxy A8s. Therefore, we don’t see any reason why Samsung wouldn’t use it in its flagship smartphone.

A Total of Five Cameras

Recently leaked renders and live images of the Galaxy S10 Plus show that the device has a triple-camera setup at the rear and a dual-camera setup at the front, making a total of five cameras. This is not something that other Android flagship smartphones have.
As of now, there is no information on the resolution of these cameras. However, it is expected that the triple-camera setup at the back will have 12MP + 12MP + 12MP configuration. The first 12MP camera is expected to have normal FoV, second one is expected to be a telephoto unit with 2x optical zoom, whereas, the third camera is rumored to have wide-angle FoV. The Galaxy S10 Plus will be the first S series device to feature 4K video recording at 60 frames per second.  As for the dual-camera setup at the front, there will be one camera with normal FoV, and one with wide-angle FoV.

Will Feature Exynos 9820 or Snapdragon 855 SoC, Depending on Region

There is one thing we know for sure about the Galaxy S10 Plus, and that is, the device will be powered by either the Exynos 9820 or the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC. Both chipsets have already been launched. The Exynos 9820 features two high-performance custom CPU cores, another two high-performance Cortex-A75 cores, four power-efficient Cortex-A55 cores, and Mali-G76 MP12 GPU. On the other hand, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 has one high-performance Kryo 485 Prime CPU core, another three high-performance Kryo 485 cores, four power-efficient Kryo 385 cores, and Adreno 640 GPU. The Exynos 9820 is built on the 8nm manufacturing process, whereas, the Snapdragon 855 is built on the 7nm manufacturing process. Both chipsets will have identical performance.
